If you’re near Brooklyn this weekend, there’s a reckless party at 285 Kent in Williamsburg that you might want to think about attending. It’s a Mixpak and Thread showcase with Dre Skull, Jubilee, Dubbel Dutch, Nadus, EZRAKH, and DJ Reck in the mix all night. We’re sure to hear dancehall, hip-hop, trap, juke, house, bounce, and everything in-between. But the headliner is unexpected, and legendary.
Houston native, Swisha House head, and tastemaker Michael “5000″ Watts will be in the building to headline. He’s probably known most for his venture partnerships to bring us Mike Jones and Paul Wall, the taste and vision of both he and OG Ron C shaped the musical output of the entire south, introduced the masses to “chopped and screwed” edits, and put Houston on the map forever.
This party is all ages, and you can get a free ride from Uber. If you sign up using the promotional code “THREADBK,” you will get a $20 credit. Link up with a friend for a round-trip designated driver at no cost, and come vibe out. You can get your advance tickets via Ticketfly, or shoot an email to firstname.lastname@example.org (subject: THREAD VS MIXPAK GIVEAWAY) and let us know you want a pair of free tickets. We’ll be picking a winner later this week.
