Tiesto Drinks With Giorgio Moroder, “Destroys” Daft Punk

Last week, Giorgio Moroder posted the above picture to Facebook, showing himself knocking back shots with the one and only Tiesto at what appears to be a Hakkasan gig. A few days later, Tiesto was still feeling that liquid courage, and spoke to Huffington Post about meeting Giorgio Moroder and spoke on Moroder’s boys, Daft Punk:

We didn’t have much conversation but we exchanged numbers after the set. We are going to sit together soon in L.A. or Vegas and we’re really going to talk. We need to have a conversation but something will happen. I mean, he did a collaboration with Daft Punk, so why not with me?

He must have been really feeling it, as he followed Diplo and Axwell in speaking on Random Access Memories:

It got so much attention because it’s so different and it’s an attitude album. It’s cool to like Daft Punk. Even if you’re not into the song, as soon as you hear [“Get Lucky’”], you see all the cool people go, ‘Oh yeah, this is cool, that’s my song,’ and they don’t really even enjoy it.

I’m destroying them now. Sorry Daft Punk.

But the ‘Tron’ soundtrack wasn’t that great and this is not great, either. But because it’s Daft Punk and they’re supposed to be cool and they had the amazing pyramid at Coachella a couple of years ago and the helmets — they’re fucking cool. But the music doesn’t deliver on the hype so much.”

Is there truth to what Tiesto is saying? Sure. Music fans can be sheep, especially if they aren’t as nerdy about music as we can be. The question then becomes: Was this made for the “cool” people that Tiesto is referring to? And on top of that, what’s to say that the music Tiesto’s playing isn’t thought of in the same light? Are the people in the stands really giving a fuck about the music, or are they simply dancing to what’s being played because that’s what they feel they should be doing, primarily because they’re in the goddamn club?

And damnit, we have other questions; was Tiesto a fan of Human After All? Does Tiesto do a lot of listening to music that’s not on some “club” shit? Does he feel that people fuck with him even if his “music doesn’t deliver” because he’s a “DJ god” and is seen to be “fucking cool?” And what the FUCK would a Tiesto/Moroder collaboration sound like?

LOL. This is the best bit of EDM ish I’ve read all day. Tiesto sucks!

Fuck tiesto , he’s the dumb jock of electronic music. I bet he can’t even tie his own shoes. Music doesn’t deliver on the hype? Daft punk created some thing special with RAM. They didn’t just slap their old shit together like Tiesto does every god damn album. If you have the first tiesto album you basically have them all. I’m not sitting here dick riding daft punk. I’m just extremely supportive of out side the box thinkingand innovation in music. Not being a lazy hack copy cat fuck boy like 90 percent of the clowns out today. Fuck them. There is a serious problem going on here does no body see it? We have fucking Frankenstein telling people what’s good and what’s bad? Eat a dick dude I hope a stage falls on you

    • Wtf?

My exact thoughts on Tiesto, he’s sound is so generic and he’s never done anything revolutionary. But why is he so godamn popular?! Is just the fact he’s long time player and everyone knows him? Or maybe he’s just simple enough for simple people.

I think the idea that everyone has hyped him up so people know they’ll at least be able to raise their hands and RAVE! is a big part of it.

  • Tiesto

    I agree.

  • woody

of all the DP albums to name drop you choose Human After All? :/

    • khal

you missed the point; Homework and Discovery were obviously (and ultimately) loved by all, but Human After All wasn’t. Did Tiesto play tracks off of that one? Did his thoughts about them losing the plot come on with RAM or had he been having these ideas?

  • Nick Rharbi

fuck Tiesto though. He’s stupid and his music is mediocre and over hyped. He’s jealous that he’s not a real musician like Daft Punk are.

  • Bokehboy

I don’t know who the fuck Tiesto is or what he sounds like, but DP’s RAM is something special!

RAM is a terrible album. I don’t like Tiesto but he’s right about this.
