Whether it's A$AP Rocky working with Skrillex, UZ working with Trinidad Jame$, or Ludacris collaborating with David Guetta, the worlds of rap and EDM have been colliding for a while now. So while Waka Flocka telling HipHopDX that he's planning an "EDM-based" album is news, it's not that surprising, especially when you consider the first name he mentioned was Flosstradamus:

Wacka Flocka Flame: “Club jumpin’ like I’m Skrillex, get ‘em Diplo...” The King of Rap EDM is me. I’ve been there. Punk Rap, that’s EDM. People didn’t understand what I was saying, now they do. I see a lot of my students, I’m like the principal, I’m here to talk.

DX: Are you going to do an EDM-based album then?

Wacka Flocka Flame: Yes. Yes. It’s already in the motion. Flosstradamus, Diplo, Skrillex. Some underground people, too. I want to create a name. I’ve been doing it in hip-hop so long.

How this will play out is a different story. Flosstradamus has a number of credits on rap projects, but when you throw out "EDM-based," it could mean a few things. Is Waka just saying "these EDM trap producers are making dope shit, let me rock to some of their beats" or "I want something that will build and breakdown like an EDM track?" Time will tell. One thing we do imagine is that, when they heard about this story, Flosstradamus probably reacted something like this:

1.

flockadamus
