Chicago's house music may never die, but the local scene just took a hit. This past Thursday, the Wavefront Music Festival announced that they were canceling this year's festivities, postponing the event until 2015. The festival's future had been a concern for those in the area as last year's edition, while a rave success to it's goers, caused issues for those in the area not partaking. Even concessions to downsize the festival by half were not enough and local politicians decided they could not support.  DNAInfo.com reported "Alderman Osterman does not support this event," Dan Luna, chief of staff to Harry Osterman (48th) said Thursday. "We're waiting for the organizers to come back to our office with what their plans are to address the concerns of both communities in the 46th and 48th wards."

Alderman Osterman's concerns were echoed by local residents and now their words prove once again, that complaining to local politicians isn't always fruitless. DNAInfo.com reports, "Sheli Lulkin, president of a condo owner coalition along North Sheridan Road, said “It’s obvious that the park district has a contract and isn’t going to cancel it,” she said. “I think they really will try to work it out, especially since they’ve heard from two alderman already.”  Check out Wavefront's official announcement:
