It’s funny; this weekend, I spent time going through a number of my old CDs. They’re collecting dust, so it made sense to digitize them and find a good home for them. A couple of the old projects I’m finding are highlighting the New York drum & bass scene from the late ’90s, and while most of the acts from that era are MIA, it’s good to see CT and DJ Seen representing as The Burner Brothers, still. Recently, Patrol the Skies put out the latest Burners EP, Wall to Wall, and it brings those old memories back. That time when there really was a feeling that the American drum & bass scene was being slept-on heavy, but instead of trying to breach their shores, we just did for self. Sometimes, it’s still that way, but with that rebellious spirit comes the need to build up our own. Their turbo-charged dnb vibe is in tact, finding tracks like “The Vulture” and the title track sitting pretty in the middle of the dancefloor. Truth be told, 2014 feels like the year that dnb can reemerge, so hearing projects like this make me all giddy. Get your minds right and go in on this one, which is out now.
