Mau5trap might not have the most expansive lineup, but they only have quality. Noisia, Deadmau5, Skrillex, Foreign Beggars, and now again, Feed Me. Just looking at the quality of releases that mau5trap has had, it's clear that to have a release on their label is a high watermark for any aspiring artist. Now Feed Me has already had multiple releases and we're lucky enough to have another one, Death By Robot.
This three-track EP offers varying re-interpretations of Feed Me's constantly evolving electro house sound. In classic Feed Me style, the title track opens with a single piano riff, before galloping into an electro beat rife with Daft Punk-inspired vocoded vocals and a high-energy groove that just mooves. Feed Me effortlessly combines the funk rhythms of an era gone by with modern electro sounds and the result is a unique sonic palette that few have even tried to replicate. "Dialup Days" follows and as the title suggests, it opens with a dial tone. Feed Me takes the dialup tone and chops it up and morphs into his own beat. "Dialup Days" is a scaled back tech/electro house tune with it's minimal melodies and wobbling basslines. The track fits within the same realm as a Jack Beats or Bass Kleph tune, and could easily fit into a set as a bridge between tech and electro house styles. Final tune "Gravel" turns up the energy level with a signature classical-electro breakdown juxtaposed against the aggressive and blistering fast paced bassline.
Feed Me is one of the few producers who has been able to incorporate classical musical elements into his music and he's managed to do so with such quality. Death By Robot is a healthy three-track EP that has us primed and ready for this upcoming tour (which kicks off on January 29 in Washington D.C.) and we can't wait to hear the upcoming album.
