Bringing an industrial-flavored style of dubstep, Rottun Recordrings was a trailblazer in the North American bass scene. Along with founder Excision, the label saw early releases from eventual bass heavyweights like Datsik, Flux Pavilion, Downlink and emerging talent like Schoolboy, Ajapai, Terravita, and Protohype. As the label has grown and the frenzy around dubstep has normalized, the label has fostered releases across the bass music spectrum. Yesterday, Rottun continued this with a new drum & bass single from Mark Instinct. “CTRL” keeps with the stylistic themes present in nearly all Rottun releases. It has a raw energy that should fit nicely into bass sets all festival season long. This is the kind of track that most likely won’t get a huge amount of burn, but when it does get dropped, it will destroy dancefloors. Tight snares, a heavy bass and a sci-fi vibe make this a quality drum & bass track.
