Today, a number of dope projects drop, but one of DAD’s favorites is Danny Brown‘s Old, which Fool’s Gold released today and features production from Darq E Freaker, A-Trak, and Rustie, who produced “Side B (Dope Song).” If you listened to Old, you’d notice that it’s split into two sections, with “Side A” being a bit more hip-hop than the rowdy, turnt up “Side B,” showcasing the two sides of Danny Brown. “Dope Song” definitely details Danny’s days as a drug dealer, but Rustie’s huge production (one of three beats he has on the project) turns this one into more of a “retirement party” from not only the dope game, but from the serious side of life. Now it’s time to turn the dial up to 11 and bug out, which is pretty much the attitude of this multi-hued video, which was filmed in Danny’s old stomping grounds of Detroit.
Grab Old today, and be sure to check out Danny Brown’s Complex cover story, which details his life story with a truly ill visual. Also, check out our own interview with Danny Brown from this year’s Afropunk festival, and be sure to catch Danny Brown and A-Trak on tour this fall.
