Interview: Just Blaze Speaks on Meeting Baauer, Making “HIGHER,” and His Fool’s Gold Material

Just Blaze‘s resume as a producer and artist is etched in stone; he was a huge part of the Roc-A-Fella dynasty, including producing Jay-Z’s The Blueprint alongside Kanye West, among a number of other records. Many were taken aback when his collaboration with Baauer, “HIGHER,” blew up… without pre-release hype or it existing anywhere but on his SoundCloud (note: it’s sitting at almost 869K streams right now). Around the same time, “Behold! (Exhibit J)” (which is a house rendition of Just’s amazing instrumental for Jay Electronica) was hitting the ‘Net, with word of an EP dropping on Fool’s Gold in the very near future. With all of this swirling around him, we had to get in touch with Just to see where he was planning on taking this.

At Just Blaze’s Stadium Red Studios, Nappy sat with Just to not only break down how he met Baauer, but the creation of “HIGHER” and how it blew up. Just also speaks on how long he’s actually been working with dance music (it’s been a while), mentioning the Fool’s Gold Holiday Party he spun at, as well as what you can expect on that Fool’s Gold EP. All-in-all, Just gives us an idea of where his head is at, and makes us even more anxious to hear his full projects.
