Norwegian Comic Troupe Kollektivet Lampoon Live DJ Sets With "2manybuttons"

When interviewing turntable legends Enferno and Shiftee about their E.A.S.Y. project, Shiftee stated the following: “[E.A.S.Y] is in response to the rise of “push button” DJs. I was sitting at home watching that “Davicii sketch” [on Saturday Night Live] and I thought, ‘this is funny because this is real.’ I told Enferno that we should do a live remix of “When Will The Bass Drop,” and instead of dropping the bass, drop skills instead, making a crazy routine and performance."

Televised Norwegian comedy quartet Kollektivet's recently-released "2manybuttons" sketch falls somewhere between "Davicii" and E.A.S.Y., furthering the head-scratching questioning by non-EDM obsessed music appreciators worldwide. The statement "we don’t even know what half of our buttons go to" as uttered by half of the pair in the video likely is what much of the world ponders when attempting to figure out just what exactly is creating this magic sound that has seemingly not just entranced America, but the world at-large. Yes, this is certainly funny. But as the line blurs between the joke being on the world that doesn't "get it" and the joke possibly being on a community of fans watching ill-prepared/unaware producers pushing buttons as "DJs," there are more questions raised now than answers about just what is going on in these #surrealdjing-guided strangest of days.
